Mission Statement
With the magnitude of the environmental, social and economic challenges of our time, and the apparent inadequacy of our current solutions, we recognize the importance of preparing the future generation to better meet these challenges. We believe that children given the support of a Waldorf education, will become free-thinking adults able to create new solutions to the problems of our age and to impart purpose and direction to their own lives.
Goals
  1. To provide children in the greater Burlington area with a high quality Waldorf education from kindergarten through twelfth grade. In this endeavor we strive:

    • to impart a joy for learning,
    • to develop human values,
    • to balance academic, artistic and active techniques in the presentation of curriculum,
    • to draw out and guide each child’s unique talents while maintaining a diversity and balance in interests, skills and knowledge,
    • to provide a “classical” curriculum which imparts a historical and global perspective to our students,
    • to foster confidence, self-reliance, independence and individualism,
    • to present the curriculum in a manner and timing that corresponds to the child’s development
    • to encourage respect for humanity and nature, and
    • to inspire an awareness of the spiritual foundation of existence.

  2. To provide a center for parents and friends to share in the artistic and social elements of the school. In building community we hope:

    • to provide support for the children,
    • to offer opportunities for an individual’s growth through his or her involvement with the school, and
    • to encourage social change.

  3. To provide parents with the opportunity to create a philosophical continuity between home and school. We hope to enrich life by:

    • supporting festivals and rituals,
    • deepening the relationship between children and their parents, and
    • assisting parents in understanding their children’s development.
